During the 2024 residency year, the project team prioritized gathering a diverse range of voices for our interviews. The participants included individuals actively involved in community outreach as well as those connected to past social initiatives within Savannah’s faith-based community.
The interviews and this site cannot fully encompass every such effort across the city, and we acknowledge the challenge of representing this dynamic and evolving landscape. We hope our audience will also understand and appreciate the limitations inherent to our project.
Nevertheless, we were fortunate to hear from many Savannahians eager to share stories and insights about the impactful ways faith in Savannah has driven social change and addressed human needs. Through the material in this section, we hope students will gain a deeper understanding of how these efforts—both past and present—have helped shape the social fabric of this historic and vibrant city.
